As a biologist, I have a few things to say about evolution. First that it occurs. Whether you are looking at the genetic relationships between species, studying antibiotic resistant bacteria or looking at the fossil record, the evidence is there, if a person will only look. Second there is no controversy. Most scientists, not just biologists, agree that evolution occurs.

What is controversial is that science, in general, looks at things from a material and natural stand point. That is science does not investigate the supernatural. There are some who think this is not the way to do science. That science has overstepped it bounds. That questions like does a god or gods exist and whether humans have souls can be positively answered. Science takes questions and tests them and retests them. And if there is one test that does not fit the results then new theories must be defined and tested.
